Liberation Literacies: A Framing of Hope Centered Epistemologies, Critical Love, and Schooling Resistance
Abstract: Liberation literacies interrogate the intersectional nature of language, race, and power through processes of critical knowledge building (Lyiscott, 2017; Parker, 2022). In this presentation, I share how communities working towards liberation cultivate care, love, dignity, and respect in education. I draw from Black and Latina/Chicana Feminist, Indigenous, and Freirean practices of schooling resistance to reframe what critical literacy means to those from politicized identities through humanizing epistemologies.
