Policy and Advocacy

Language is intimately connected with many of the world's greatest challenges. Thus, it is directly relevant to issues of public policy, particularly in domains such as literacy, foreign-language education, communication disorders, and foreign affairs. Linking our research to critical issues in public policy is an important part of our mission. Our goal is not only to enhance and disseminate knowledge about language science, but to use those findings to address real-world problems. By connecting our findings to the needs of policy-makers, we hope to provide legislators with the facts they need to make informed public healthy, education, and national security decisions. Our location in the Washington, D.C area is ideal for connecting language science to issues in national policy.
