MHALC is organized by students and faculty in the Hispanic Applied Linguistics master’s degree program at the University of Maryland. This virtual symposium offers undergraduate students the unique opportunity to present their course papers on any aspect of Hispanic applied linguistics in a formal academic setting to an audience of experts and peers.

The theme of MHALC 2024 is "Diverse Voices, Shared Contexts in Hispanic Applied Linguistics." It refers to the rich linguistic and cultural diversity within the Hispanic world, as well as to the different methodological approaches and disciplinary perspectives within applied linguistics that the SLLC employs to research, understand, and embrace this diversity.

MHALC 2024 will take place April 5 - 6, 2024 online and in person at the University of Maryland, College Park campus.
April 5th will be a fully online day with academic presentations by students and faculty as well as institutional presentations.
April 6th will be a hybrid day, with in-person presentations by guest speakers also streamed online for registered participants.
