Language Science Lunch Talk: Jonet Artis (HESP)
Current methods used to assess the early receptive language skills of young autistic children: Strengths and limitations
Abstract: Efforts to identify young children on the autism spectrum provide an opportunity to learn about their language development from an early age. In this talk, I will discuss a community-based screening study that was designed to identify toddlers who were at an elevated likelihood of a later diagnosis of autism. I will also discuss our findings related to their early language and social communication skills. I will describe the strengths and limitations of the tools used to assess the early language skills of autistic children, with a focus on receptive language skills.
Talks begin at 12:30 PM, with lunch served at 12:15 PM. Vegetarian options available. Let us know if you have other dietary restrictions.
