Lunch is served starting at 12:15pm.

What does pronoun resolution tell us about language/memory interaction?

In this talk, I am going to discuss interpretation of reflexive pronouns (e.g. "himself"), and I am going to address the following puzzle. Off-line judgments suggest that the interpretation of reflexives is subject to structural constraints. On-line data suggest that people quickly detect violations of such constraints in real-time processing... but only in a subset of relevant cases. I will talk about how solving this puzzle can help us understand the interaction between language and memory, and present preliminary results of the experiments bearing on the issue.
