About:
I direct the Language, Experience, and Development (LEAD) lab at Maryland, which employs interdisciplinary methods (psychology, cognitive neuroscience, speech language pathology, education) to study how children's early experiences, both favorable and adverse, influence neural, cognitive, and academic developme, with a focus on language and literacy development. Some of our primary areas of investigation are the causes and consequences of socioeconomic disparities in neurocognitive development, how the developing brain adapts to variation in early environments, and how this contributes to heterogeneity in learning. We aim for our work to have translational implication to better support educational equity.
