Revisiting Hui & Godfroid (2021): A critical reflection on the use of response time data in SLA research.

Abstract: In Hui & Godfroid (2021), we report a study carried out as my first qualifying research paper as a PhD student. We examined the role of processing speed and automaticity in L2 listening comprehension, using response time tasks. As I have gained more experience in research, I look back and become more aware of the limitations of the methodology and research design. In this talk, I will walk through those limitations and propose what I would have done differently.

Lunch served at 12:15 PM. Vegetarian options availalble. Let us know if you have other dietary restrictions!
