PhD, 2018, English, University of Maryland
I use cognitive semantic and corpus linguistic methods to study the ways that English speakrs use langauge to communicate and arouse emotions in their audiences. I'm interested more generally in rhetoric, pragamatics, and stylistics in political discourse, as well as ways knowledge from linguistics can be applied to college-level writing pedagogy.
