Maryland Language Science Center
Attend Rupture and Repair: What to Do When Someone Gets Hurt on December 3rd, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. The event will be held virtually.
About the workshop:
What do you do when someone says or does something biased or otherwise problematic? This question is at the heart of functional and psychologically safe workplaces. And the answer lies in the framework of "rupture and repair," which comes from therapeutic psychology. We show that
"nice" doesn't always align with good impact, and that healthy relationships can't be frictionless.
We will explore these questions: Who is responsible for noticing bias and bringing it to someone's attention? What are the necessary components of an apology? How can we make sure the good intentions of our community are reflected in individual people's impact?
