Directions

H.J. Patterson Hall has several entrances, but only one of them is wheelchair accessible. This map shows the 4 entrances you’re most likely to use. The three with yellow pins all have stairs; the orange wheelchair symbol is the one accessible entrance. 

Every floor has a large bathroom marked for women (1 large + 3 small stalls), and a single-stall bathroom marked for men. Both bathrooms are wheelchair accessible.

The closest visitor parking is in Union Lane Garage. In the unlikely case that Union Lane Garage is full, the next closest visitor parking is in Regents Drive Garage (also marked Lot B, visitor parking on the roof). Park in an area marked for visitors, note your parking space number, and find a pay station. (You pay when you park, not when you leave!)

If you are getting dropped off by a taxi or rideshare, provide the address 1126 Campus Drive.

The closest rail station to campus is College Park - U of Md, on the Metrorail green line and the MARC Camden line. It’s about 1.1 miles from H.J. Patterson Hall; you can walk or take the bus. 

If you’re walking from the rail station: after you go through the turnstiles, go towards the right and go through the tunnel to come out on the west side of the station. (If you arrived on the MARC, you’re already there.) It’s a 25-30 minute walk through a mostly residential area and then campus.

If you’re taking the bus from the rail station: after you go through the turnstiles, go towards the left and up the steps or elevator to come out on the east side of the station, where there’s a big bus loop. The best bus options are:

UMD shuttle 104: 

• This bus is free for everyone, so you can simply board the bus and grab a seat.  
• The bus usually comes every 30 minutes.
• The bus stop is on the closer near side of the bus loop.
• Ride is approximately 15 minutes to Regents Drive Parking Garage. 
• Walking directions from Regents Drive Garage to H.J. Patterson Hall. 

P37 towards Adelphi

• Coming off of the metro there is a free transfer to the bus. You can scan your card up front and then take a seat.
• The bus usually comes every 10-30 minutes.
• Bus bays are labeled according to what route they are servicing.
• Bus stop on the farther side of the bus loop. Ride is approximately 5 minutes to the "Campus Dr / Regents Dr." stop
• Walking directions from the P37 bus stop to H.J. Patterson Hall.

Hoff Theater is located in Adele H. Stamp Student Union, across the street from the Language Science Center in HJ Patterson Hall. Parking is available at the Union Lane Garage, Stadium Drive Garage, and the Regents Drive Garage, all of which are located on the University of Maryland campus. 

Visitor parking is available via pay stations in these garages, or through the Parkmobile app, but guests should always check the latest visitor parking guidelines on the UMD Transportation Services website. 

Parking is free in a majority of student parking lots after 4:30 PM. Signage in individual lots indicate restrictions.
