Abstract: Despite AI's potential to revolutionize teaching and learning, limited data availability and low data quality have been impeding the development of research and application in the field of AI and education. I will share an ongoing effort I am leading to collect a benchmark dataset in U.S. math classrooms that has high-quality multimodal data linked to administrative and survey data. I will further discuss what research and practical solutions will be enabled by this new dataset and associated research opportunities at UMD.
