By Learners For Learners: Adult L2 Authors Writing for Child L2 Learners The University of Maryland Department of German Studies and the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures are glad to present a guest lecture by Dr. Roswita Dressler of the University of Calgary Werklund School of Education, Specialization, Language and Literacy entitled By Learners For Learners: Adult L2 Authors Writing for Child L2 Learners.  Dr. Dressler will share her research on English-German K-6 bilingual education which identifies gaps in the availability of German children's books to support L2 reading instruction. To address this gap, By Learners For Learners, an OER development collaboration with Dr. John Scott (UMD German Studies), engages adult German learners and student artists to compose and publish illustrated, level-appropriate children's books, benefitting their own learning and supporting K-6 bilingual education in over 170 English-German bilingual schools in North America. Refreshments co-sponsored by the University of Maryland Multilingual Research Center.
