Language Science Reading Group

Maryland Language Science Center Thursday, September 25, 2025 - December 11, 2025 HJ Patterson, 2130

Sign up here to join our new interdisciplinary reading group, led by Samer Nour Eddine (LSC), exploring predictive mechanisms in language processing! Bringing together participants from linguistics, neuroscience, hearing and speech sciences, psychology, and computer science, we'll examine predictive mechanisms in language processing through the lens of predictive coding—covering language inference, learning/development, neural implementation, and the prediction-production relationship. Don't be late, lunch is served at 12:15 PM and discussion begins at 12:30 PM.

Readings

  • September 25th: Ryskin & Nieuwland (2023) "Prediction during language comprehension: what is next?"
  • October 9th: Pickering & Garrod (2013) "An integrated theory of language production and comprehension"
  • October 23rd: TBA
  • November 6th: TBA
  • November 20th: TBA
  • November 27th: NO TALK (Thanksgiving Break)
  • December 11th: TBA
