Evelyn Nkooyooyo (n-ko-yo-yo) is a current doctoral student in the Applied Linguistics and Language Education program. Evelyn centers critical research frameworks in her study of African American students' language and literacy practices and identify development in bilingual education programs. She seeks to emphasize students' experiential knowledge to inform not only pedagogy and practice that is culturally sustaining and humanizing, but also language education policies grounded in equity and created with African American students at the forefront. Evelyn holds a BA in French and Political Science from Grinnell College.
