COVID-19 update: Language science from home

Last updated: 3/23/2020, 3pm

Given the latest guidelines from the university, the state of Maryland, and the CDC, it seems likely that we will be doing our language science from home for at least the next 2 months.

Students, faculty, and staff are strongly discouraged from visiting campus. All classes and meetings are to be held virtually, using tools and resources made available by the university. Language Science Lunch Talks and other LSC activities will be held on Zoom; you can find links to each meeting in the weekly Events Digest and the event listing on our calendar.

Most research activity requiring a physical presence at UMD is prohibited after Wednesday, March 25. Full guidelines on Severe Research Restrictions are available from UMD's Division of Research.

All university-related domestic and international travel is prohibited through at least May 8. Caitlin Eaves is currently working to cancel all flights and hotels arranged through the LSC. We cannot currently make purchases for any future travel, and strongly discourage you from doing so. (If your travel plans end up being canceled, we will not be able to reimburse you for your expenses.)
