The Power of Communication and the Role of Speech-Language Pathology in Social and Youth Justice

This dialogue will discuss the intersection of communication and justice for youth experiencing cognitive and communication
disorders. More specifically, this dialogue will unpack the impact of cognitive and communication disorders on the increasing risk of involvement with the criminal "justice" system. As well as the role of the clinician, educator, and advocate in becoming aware and prepared for social and youth justice for the populations we serve with cognitive and communication disorders.

Dr. Stanford is an Associate Professor in Communication Sciences & Disorders at Howard University. Her expertise is in
Juvenile Forensic Speech-Language Pathology and Child Language Disorders.
