Help advance language science at Maryland this Giving Day.

If you're volunteering for the language science tent at Maryland Day, or if you're just interested in how to talk to people about language science, come learn how to run some tried-and-true demos from outreach veterans Erika Exton, Lauren Salig, and Kathleen Oppenheimer.

Lunch will be served; please arrive by 12:15 to get your food before the training starts!

Come visit the Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, and Language Science tent (Tawes Plaza) and the Learning to Talk Lab table in the BSOS tent (McKeldin Mall) at Maryland Day this year! Learn how babies learn their first words, what it takes to be a field researcher, language party tricks, and more!

The LSC hosted our first outreach workshop for the spring semester on February 15th!

In April 2018, over 40 students and faculty from UMD and other universities helped staff the Language Science for Everyone booth at the USA Science and Engineering Festival at the DC convention center. An estimated 2,000 people visited the booth over the course of the three-day event.

You’ll find it all at the University of Maryland’s one-day open house featuring family-friendly and interactive events. Come explore our world of Fearless Ideas and see all that we do to the best for our community, the state and the world.

Maryland Day is packed with exciting events and exhibits in six “learning neighborhoods” spread across campus. The Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, and Language Science communities will be hosting several exhibits.

The Language Science Center outreach team hosts groups of students from local high schools and middle schools every year. We're excited to welcome a visit from a new middle school, the Southern Maryland Christian Academy. Twenty-five students from their Grade 7 Science class will tour the CNL lab and the MEG lab at the MNC.
