Abstract: Today's talk will focus on the process of designing a study that investigates the influence of dialect mismatch on semantic predictability. We will discuss the relationship between dialect mismatch and spoken language comprehension, the advantages of using online processing measures to capture processing costs associated dialect mismatch, and the challenges related to designing studies that focus on nonmainstream varieties of English.
